Alaska Hunting/Fishing Trips
from the Dream Catcher
Our Trips
The Dream Catcher conducts ship based deer and bear hunting trips in Prince William Sound, along the Kenai Peninsula and on the island of Kodiak. These 7 day hunting/fishing trips provide a unique and amazing method of hunting.
Check out our schedule for dates and pricing. Unless you've enlisted the assistance of a personal guide, you'll be on your own while hunting. Our captain and crew are strictly prohibited from assisting in your hunt in any way. But you'll have the comfort of the Dream Catcher just off shore, and after a long day of stalking you'll be glad you do!
Hunting for deer or bear while based from our 85’ M/V Dream Catcher is not in anyway like hunting from a spike camp or converted fishing charter vessel. The Dream Catcher was designed and built to take small groups for extended month-long expeditions in style and comfortable accommodations normally only experienced at land-based lodges. No other vessel engaged in marine hunts in Alaska can offer you the amenities found aboard.
Her skippers and owners, Scott and Rob Hulse grew up in Alaska. Hunting and fishing have always played a major role in their lives. Since 1979 they have Commercial Fished and engaged in Research Charters from Cape St. Elias to the Arctic Ice Pack. You will not find better skippers to deliver you to Alaska’s finest coastal hunting areas.
Game
Alaska's Sitka Blacktail Deer is one of the smallest species of the North American deer. This strong, hardy animal is native to the wet, coastal rainforests of Southeast Alaska. Due to their diet of native Alaska grass, there is no wild taste to the meat. They are now well established in Prince William Sound, Kodiak, and Afognak Islands. A large buck from Afognak averages 90 to 120 pounds, and larger bucks from south end western sides of Kodiak average 175 to 200 pounds. Antlers are small but normally have 3 or 4 points per side.
Supplies and Services
State law prohibits our captains and crews from supplying any gear for your hunt or assisting in any hunt duties, such as spotting, shooting, processing or packing your animal. For these services, you will need to be a client of Professional Guide Vern Humble.
Game Processing
For your convenience, we have a rear covered deck area for processing. Wet gear is stored in heated deck storage rooms, not your stateroom. There is space to hang your deer, and you may purchase wax freezer boxes to store the venison in our walk-in freezer and refrigerator.
After a long day in the field securing your trophy animal, you will appreciate the comfort and convenience awaiting you aboard Dream Catcher.
Hunting Contract
In following with Alaska State Law once you book your hunt we will send you non-guided hunting contract for you to look over and sign before returning it to us.
Life Aboard the Dream Catcher
We start you out each day with a hearty breakfast. We will help prepare your lunch, but give us a hand to make sure you have enough food to last until your return to Dream Catcher in the evening.
You will have time in the evening to take care of your deer, hang your outerwear in the heated deck storage rooms, set your boots on the boot dryers then enjoy a warm shower before your evening meal.
Evening meals will feature such savory items as steaks, crab, shrimp, and halibut. No meal onboard will be complete with out a mouthwatering dessert prepared fresh that day.
Your evenings will be open. You can drop a line overboard for local flatfish or rockfish or just relax. Our forward TV lounge boasts a library of almost 500 films; enjoy hot popcorn while you watch. There is also an aft lounge for quiet reading. Or enjoy board games or card games in the bridge lounge or dinning area.
Aboard Dream Catcher, there is more than just deer hunting. As time allows, you can pursue Red Fox, Cross Fox, Sea Ducks, Ptarmigan, crab, shrimp, and halibut.
